KILGORE, TX -- The Lady Rangers entered halftime with a seven-point lead, but their shots fell short in the second half, losing Feb. 2 to the No. 10 Angelina College Lady Roadrunners, 64-58, in Masters Gymnasium.
KC scored 11 unanswered points to close out the first half ahead of Angelina 37-30, but Angelina made up the deficit in the third period, heading into the fourth period with the game tied at 49 points.
The Lady Rangers opened up the fourth period with Emely Rosario getting fouled and making two free throws to put KC ahead, 51-49 -- but Angelina answered by going on a 13-5 run in an eight minute stretch to put the Lady Roadrunners ahead, 62-52, with 3:45 left in the game.
KC narrowed the 10-point lead with three straight baskets by Sarah Mgbeike, Ta Shawnna Riggs and Ireneshia Johnson to cut the lead to four points with 1:30 left.
Angelina's Mia Williams scored the next two baskets to put the Lady Roadrunners ahead, 64-58, with a minute left.
Mack ended up with 26 points for Angelina, leading all scorers. She also earned a double-double by grabbing 10 rebounds.
Williams scored 15 points for the Lady Roadrunners.
KC was led in scoring by Rosario with 15 points. Mgbeike scored 10 points, earining a double-double with 16 rebounds, and Johnson scored nine points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Alex Strawhorn had eight points for the Lady Rangers, Riggs scored six and Alex Popham scored four points.
The Lady Rangers drop to 13-8 overall and 5-5 in conference play.
Angelina improves to 20-1 overall and 9-1 in Region XIV.
KC will travel Wednesday, Feb. 6, to play Blinn College. Tipoff from the Kruse Center in Brenham is set for 5:30 p.m.
