KILGORE, TX -- The Kilgore College Rangers went into the locker room at halftime down by four points to the Navarro College Bulldogs and just couldn't catch up to a furious second half offensive performance by the Bulldogs, losing 72-66 in the final regular season game.
KC got close to the Bulldogs in the second half, but every time they did, it seemed that Navarro hit a three pointer to increase its lead. The Bulldogs were 9-of-18 from three point land with Chris Boleware making 3-of-7 and Trey Young connecting on 4-of-7 three pointers.
Boleware ended up with 15 points and Young scored 14. Wayne Martin also scored 14 points for Navarro.
The Rangers were led in scoring by Jonathan Milligan with 20 points. Two other players were in double figures for KC with Bakari Copeland and Shaq Keith each scoring 13 points.
With the win, Navarro locks up the No. 3 seed in the Region XIV Tournament and will get a bye in the first round.
With the KC loss, the Rangers will be the 6th seed in next week’s regional tournament.
KC will play 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, vs. No. 11 seed Coastal Bend College.
With the loss, KC finishes the regular season with a 20-9 overall record and a 12-7 record in league play.
