TYLER, TX -- The Lady Rangers finally put together a complete game and defeated the NJCAA No. 13-ranked Tyler Junior College Lady Apaches, 66-65, at Wagstaff Gymnasium.
KC's Lyric Williams was dominant both halves of the game, earning a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lady Rangers led by five points at halftime, but the Lady Apaches clawed back, going up by as many as seven points midway through the final period.
KC got clutch steals toward the end of the game to gain needed possessions. TJC, down by one one point, had a final possession with 1.4 seconds left, but the shot fell short.
Two other Lady Rangers were in double figures with freshman Lauren Carroll scoring 20 points and Dominique Thomas scoring 13.
TJC was led by Skylynn Holmes with 19 points.
With the victory, KC improves to 12-10 overall and 6-7 in conference play.
KC's next game is 5:30 p.m. against non-conference opponent Longview Elite on Wednesday, Feb. 3.
The Lady Rangers' next conference game is 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, in Athens versus the NJCAA No. 1-ranked Trinity Valley Community College Lady Cardinals.
