KILGORE, TX -- After the Lady Rangers went into halftime ahead by 21 points over Tyler Junior College Jan. 6, KC outscored the Lady Apaches 31-9 in the third quarter to put the game away, winning 103-55.
KC's Richelle Velez hit eight three-pointers (seven in the first half), scoring 29 points.
Jade Thurmon scored 25 for KC and had 11 assists. Alex Strawhorn was also in double figures for the Lady Rangers and had one of her best shooting performances of the year by scoring 12 points.
Alicia Mardis was huge on the boards for KC with 10 rebounds. Mardis added six points, Henessy Handy scored six (with six rebounds) and Alexus Moore scored eight for KC.
TJC made only 22 percent of its shots (18-of-81) and made 48 percent of its free throws (14-of-29).
The Lady Apaches had two players in double figures -- Trelynn Tyler with 19 points and Djhai Patterson-Ricks with 11 points.
With the loss, TJC drops to 8-7 overall and 2-3 in Region XIV play.
The Lady Rangers improve to 10-4 on the season and 4-1 in conference play.
KC will travel to Bossier City, La., to play Bossier Parish Community College 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10.
