Lady Rangers lose season-opener to Grayson College, 75-71

KILGORE, TX -- The Lady Rangers let their home-opener slip away, narrowly losing to Grayson College, 75-71, in a non-conference matchup in Masters Gymnasium.

Both teams struggled shooting the ball with KC making 28.3% of its shots (17-of-60) and Grayson making 33.9% (19-of-56).

Turnovers were also a major issue for both squads with the Lady Rangers turning over the ball 29 times and Grayson turning it over 34 times.

Bright spots for KC were Rahmena Henderson who scored 30 points and Jada Hood with 24.

Henderson added eight rebounds, three assists and a steal. 

Josephine Adegbite was also dominant on the boards with nine rebounds.

Rounding out the scoring for KC was Mckenze Brown (4), Kerrighan Dunn (4), Vianey Galvan (3), Tara Green (3), Rejon Hawkins (3), Farah Shabaan (2) and Adegbite (1).

Sali Kourouma led Grayson College in scoring with 18 points, earning a double-double with 11 rebounds.  Jane Asinde and Shelby Black were also in double figures with 16 points and 10 points, respectively.

KC travels Monday, Jan. 25, to Plano to face Collin College (5 p.m.) and returns home Thursday, Jan. 28 to play South Plains College (5 p.m.)
