Lady Rangers knock off previously unbeaten Hill College, 78-65

TYLER, TX -- The Kilgore College Lady Rangers upset the previously unbeaten Hill College Rebels, 78-65, at the Holiday Inn Classic Nov. 10 at Tyler Junior College.

KC was up by as many as 21 points in the second half but Hill cut the Lady Rangers lead to 9 points in the fourth period.

For each Rebel surge, KC responded with strong offensive play. KC was led in scoring by sophomore Jade Thurmon who scored 29 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Richelle Velez was on fire from the three-point line, knocking down 6-of-13 from beyond the arc.

KC's Alicia Mardis was agressive rebounding the ball with 14 rebounds, 12 defensively.  Mardis also scored 15 points for the Lady Rangers.

Hill was led in scoring by Kelsey Crouse who scored 20 points.  Da'Meka Shed came off the bench for the Rebels to score 12 points.

With the loss, Hill drops to 4-1 while KC improves to 3-0.

The Lady Rangers will play one more game in the Holiday Inn Classic at TJC 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, versus Arkansas Baptist College.
