LUFKIN, TX -- Kilgore College freshman Richelle Velez set a school record by knocking down nine three-pointers in a huge conference victory March 1 over Angelina College, 81-67.
Velez was 10-of-19 overall, scoring 33 points for the Lady Rangers. She also had two steals, four rebounds and two assists.
KC sophomore Lyrik Williams earned a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds while Kilgore's Jade Thurmon added 11 points.
The Lady Rangers made an impressive 50.9 percent of their shots in the game.
Angelina College was led in scoring by Kennethah Harden with 16 points. Angelica Darcus and Tyanna Barlow each scored 14 points for the Lady Roadrunners.
The Lady Rangers have one final home game set for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, in Athens versus No. 14 Trinity Valley Community College.
KC improves to 19-9 overall and 10-8 in conference play.
The Lady Rangers have qualified for the Region XIV Tournament and will play its first playoff game at John Alexander Gymnasium in Jacksonville on Wednesday, March 8 (time TBA).
