The Lady Rangers didn't shoot well from the floor and were plagued with turnovers, but did just enough down the stretch to defeat the Coastal Bend College Lady Cougars 67-51 at Masters Gymnasium Nov. 25.
With the win, the ladies improve to 1-1 in Region XIV play and 2-5 overall. Coastal Bend drops to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Both teams struggled from the field with the Lady Rangers making 35 percent of their shots and Coastal Bend hitting only 27 percent of theirs. Coastal Bend also struggled with turning the ball over, committing 33 total turnovers. The Lady Rangers had 27 turnovers.
KC was led in scoring by Darreion Clark who had 17 points and Mariah Hopkins who had 15. Deshawnta Lyday had 9 points for KC and 8 rebounds. Pre'Franz Dominick also had a solid game with 9 points and 5 rebounds.
Their next game is 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at home versus East Texas Flight. The men will follow, also against East Texas Flight, in a 6 p.m. tipoff from Masters Gymnasium.
