Lady Rangers come up short against Bossier Parish, 49-47

KILGORE, TX -- Kilgore's women had several opportunities to catch up to the Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavaliers, but were hampered by costly turnovers and missed free throws in a 49-47 loss Jan. 14.

Both teams shot poorly in the contest -- BPCC was 19-of-48 (40 percent) and KC was 17-of-54 (32 percent).  

KC had a chance to tie the game up at the end with free throws but missed both shots.  The Lady Rangers were 6-of-14 from the free throw line.

Two players were in double figures for KC with Imaobong Akpan scoring 11 and Mariah Hopkins scoring 10.  Akpan earned a double-double, adding 11 rebounds.

With the loss, KC drops to 5-10 overall and 2-6 in Region XIV play.

They will travel to Athens Saturday, Jan. 17, to face the Trinity Valley Community College Lady Cardinals.  Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
