KILGORE, TX -- The Lady Rangers overcame a seven-point halftime deficit Feb. 22 to defeat the Paris Junior College Lady Dragons, 81-76, assuring KC a spot in the Region XIV tournament.
KC shot 45 percent in the second half, outscoring the Lady Dragons 47-33 in the third and fourth periods.
Jade Thurmond led the Lady Rangers in scoring with 22 points and Lyrik Williams almost earned a double-double with 16 points and 9 rebounds.
Alexus Moore came off the bench for KC to score a season-high 14 points, knocking down 4-of-6 three-pointers (5-of-7 overall).
KC's Richelle Velez was also in double figures with 12 points, making 4-of-11 three pointers.
Danielle Meador also helped the Lady Rangers with 9 rebounds.
Paris had three players in double figures with Takiya Lopez as the leading scorer with 16 points, Marqueshia Thompson with 13 and Brianna Thomas with 10 points.
The game was KC's annual Cancer Awareness Game. Proceeds from the event raised $1,062 for the American Cancer Society.
The Lady Rangers' next game is 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Panola College in Carthage.
