Lady Rangers beat Coastal Bend College, 79-58

KILGORE, TX -- The Lady Rangers gained an early lead against Coastal Bend College and it was just too much for the Lady Cougars to overcome in a 79-58 victory Jan. 16 in Masters Gymnasium.

KC had four starters with double figures.  Emely Rosario and Alex Strawhorn each scored 17 points and Patience Idoko earned a double-double by scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Freshman Ireneshia Johnson also earned a double-double with 11 points and an impressive 15 boards.

The Lady Rangers did struggle from the free throw line, though, only making 18-of-33 attempts (54.5 percent).

Both teams struggled with turnovers.  KC had 21 turnovers and CBC had 31.

Coastal Bend had two players in double figures, both of which did not start the game, with Olivia Chisolm scoring 12 points and Cassie Hogan scoring 10.

The Lady Cougars drop to 4-13 overall and 2-4 in Region XIV play.

KC improves to 3-3 in conference play and 11-6 overall.

The Lady Rangers travel Saturday, Jan. 19, to play Tyler Junior College.

Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at Wagstaff Gymnasium in Tyler.
