Kilgore College Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) student Tucker Weems of Gladewater won a $1,200 GED scholarship award from the Texas Association for Literacy and Adult Education (TALAE).
Weems attended GED classes taught by Monika Kajstura and was salutatorian of the GED class that graduated in June of 2017.
The TALAE was formed in 1968 as the Texas Association for Continuing Adult Education with the purpose of providing professional development, networking and statewide recognition to adult education programs in Texas.
The KC AEL program offers a full range of free services to help adults improve their lives including ESL, basic literacy skills, exam preparation, GED, Integrated Education/Training and Intensive College Readiness preparation.
Day and evening classes are offered at 26 locations.
