KC Theatre students, instructors earn Knife Skills Proficiency Certifications

Last week, the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD) awarded Knife Skills Proficiency Certifications to six Kilgore College Theatre students and two KC Theatre Instructors.

The awards come after 30 hours of intense physical training sessions this spring hosted by the KC Theatre department at the Texas Shakespeare Festival Center in Kilgore.

SAFD Fight Instructor, Andrew Dylan Ray, of Shreveport, led the Knife Skills Proficiency Workshop.

The six sessions culminated in a skills proficiency test performance for the camera in early May, judged by a SAFD Fight Master.

SAFD is an organization dedicated to promoting safety and fostering excellence in the art of staged theatrical violence.
