KC sweeps No. 5 TJC to end season

KILGORE — The Kilgore College softball team barely missed qualifying for the Region XIV playoffs, but it finished its season April 28 with a doubleheader sweep of No. 5 Tyler Junior College at The Ballpark at KC Commons.

KC ends its season 21-23 overall and 14-14 in Region XIV Conference play.

In the first game Shelby Edwards homered, and Tori Tover and Breanna Ortiz added RBI. Hailey Nash and Kourtlin Hunter also had hits.

Pitcher Devyn Power struck out two, walked two and gave up three earned runs in a complete-game win.

Edwards hit another home run in the final game, finishing 3-for-4 with four RBI. Kaitlin Hunter and Brianna Ynfante each had doubles for KC with Hunter driving in a run. Nash and Taylor Christopher both added two hits and an RBI.

Katy Worrell pitched a complete game in her final appearance on the mound at KC, striking out six, walking four and allowing no earned runs.
