KC softball sweeps Navarro College on the road

CORSICANA, TX -- The Kilgore College Rangers softball team got two clutch Region XIV Conference victories April 15 with the sweep of the Navarro College Bulldogs on the road, 8-7 and 5-2.

Despite seeing its four-run lead whittled down toward the end, KC still held off Navarro for an 8-7 victory April 15 in Corsicana. Navarro scored three runs in the failed comeback.

KC collected eight hits and Navarro tallied nine in the high-scoring game.

Navarro captured the lead in the second inning with a home run, scoring two runs.

KC took the lead for good with five runs in the third inning with run scored on a stolen base, an error scoring one run, Andrea Decareau with an RBI walk, an RBI by Tori Tovar, and an error by Navarro scoring the fifth run.

Navarro scored three runs in the fourth inning, but it wasn't enough.

Mattie McQuary was the winning pitcher for KC, allowing seven hits and seven runs over six innings, striking out seven.

Micheala Latham threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Latham recorded the last three outs to earn the save for KC,

KC tallied eight hits in the game with Kelsey Ahart, Bria Tovar, and Nicole King all having multiple hits for KC.

Kilgore 5, Navarro, 2

KC completed the sweep of Navarro College April 15 in Corsicana with a 5-2 victory over the Bulldogs.

Amanda White earned the victory in the circle for KC, lasting four and a third innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out five.

KC tallied nine hits on the day including a home run by Makenna Bell in the sixth inning.

Bria Tovar and Bell all collected multiple hits for KC.

Tovar was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Bell was 2-for-3 with an RBI on her home run.

Next games:

KC will travel Wednesday, April 17, to Athens to face Trinity Valley Community College in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
