KILGORE, TX -- The Kilgore College softball team dropped two games in a non-conference matchup March 6 with Blinn College at The Ballpark at KC Commons, 13-1 and 2-0.
In the first game, the Rangers (7-14 overall) struggled to contain the high-powered Buccaneer offense, giving up 13 runs.
Blinn College scored one run in the first inning and five in the fifth inning with singles by Marley Mahoney and Mayela Fernandez, a sacrifice fly by Anna Pisaro and a double by Jordyn Smith.
Nevada Dolnik led things off in the circle for Blinn, lasting five innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out one and walking one.
Mattie McQuary started the game for Rangers. She went two innings, allowing eight runs on 10 hits, striking out three and walking one. Dani Moreno threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen for KC.
In the second game, both teams had strong pitching outings, but Blinn was just a little bit stronger at the plate in the 2-0 shutout.
Jenna Lewis started the game for Rangers and recorded 21 outs.
Blinn pitcher Renna Toomey lasted seven innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out two.
Lewis led things off in the pitcher's circle for Rangers, allowing five hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out seven.
Madalyn Spears was 1-for-1 at the plate to lead KC in hits while Mayela Fernandez led Blinn with two hits in four at bats.
The Rangers are back in action Saturday, March 7, at home versus San Jacinto College with games at 1 and 3 p.m.
