KC shuts out Arkansas Baptist College, 55-0

KILGORE, TX -- The Kilgore College Rangers racked up 602 yards of offense and its defense only allowed 53 yards of offense in a 55-0 shutout win over the Arkansas Baptist College Buffaloes Sept. 9 in a non-conference matchup.

KC scored first with an 11-yard touchdown pass from QB Roger McCuller to Zecharius Nash-Kelly with just over a minute into the game.

The Rangers went up 14-0 on an interception that Byron Robinson ran back 30 yards for a score with 11:58 left in the first quarter.

McCuller tossed another touchdown pass in the first quarter, this time for 31 yards to Demarcus Smith, to put KC up 21-0 with five minutes left in the first quarter.

After KC fumbled and ABC recovered at the Kilgore 24 yard line, Kilgore forced a Buffalo punt, but fumbled on the next series.

After recovering the fumble, KC's Darius Doakes intercepted an ABC pass and ran it back to the 48 yard line.  On the next play, KC's Carlos Frank exploded for a 45-yard run to the three yard line.  Frank scored from the three yard line on the next play to put KC up 35-0 with 9:09 left in the third quarter.

With 7:53 left in the third quarter, ABC attempted a 42-yard field goal, but it was blocked by KC's Byron Robinson.

ABC then intercepted a pass and ran it to the KC 33 yard line with six minutes left in the third quarter.  

The Rangers forced yet another punt and scored on the next series with an 11-yard touchdown pass from McCuller to Anthony Thomas to put KC up 42-0 with 1:09 left in the third quarter.

The Rangers scored again on a nice juke and 37-yard run on a quarterback keeper by McCuller to put KC up 48-0 with 10:48 left in the third quarter.

KC scored one more time with a 12-yard touchdown run by QB Jacob Frazier.  The extra point was no good to make the final score 55-0.

KC (1-1, 0-0) opens up conference play next week, facing Cisco College Sept. 16 on the road.  Game time from Cisco is set for 7 p.m.
