LUFKIN, TX -- It wasn't a good road trip for the Kilgore College men's or women's basketball teams Dec. 10 with both teams going down in defeat to Angelina College.
KC Men vs. Angelina College:
The Angelina College Roadrunners went on a 15-0 run to start the game and the Rangers played catchup all night. KC never got the lead but got to within 5 points (52-47) with about seven minutes left in the contest.
The Roadrunners kept the pressure on down the stretch and the Rangers just couldn't make up any ground, losing to Angelina College, 71-58.
Angelina College's Deckie Johnson led all scorers with 22 points. KC struggled from the field most of the game, making only 36 percent of its shots in the contest.
Two players were in double figures for KC -- Jonathan Milligan had 18 and Shaq Keith scored 16. Milligan was 3-of-6 from three point land. Miles Banks had a big game down low, grabbing 11 rebounds.
With the loss, the Rangers get a much-deserved break after the last two conference games on the road. KC sits at 9-4 overall and 2-2 in Region XIV play.
KC will resume play 2 p.m. Dec. 31 versus Houston Community College at Masters Gymnasium.
Lady Rangers vs. Angelina College:
The Lady Rangers led the Angelina College Lady Roadrunners at halftime, 32-27, but let the lead slip away in the second half.
KC only scored 15 points in the second half en route to a 62-47 loss to Angelina College Dec. 10 in Lufkin.
Angelina College's San'Queisha Rawls led all scorers with 22 points and an impressive 18 rebounds. She was the only player for AC in double figures.
KC had two players in double figures -- Pre'Franz Dominick with 14 and Adrianna Edwards with 10.
With the loss, the Lady Rangers drop to 4-7 overall and 2-3 in Region XIV play.
They will resume play Jan. 2-3 for the Lady Ranger Classic in Kilgore (games TBA).
