PARIS, TX -- Both the Kilgore College men's and women's basketball teams defeated Paris Junior College in key conference matchups Feb. 14 with the Lady Rangers winning 53-49 and the men defeating the Dragons 77-72.
KC men vs. Paris
Kilgore College's Bakari Copeland was on fire for the Rangers putting up a season-high 27 points including five three-pointers (5-of-6) in KC's defeat of Paris on the road, 77-72.
Paris hung with the Rangers throughout the contest which had nine ties and 10 lead changes.
Jonathan Milligan had another big game with 22 points and was 12-of-14 from the free throw line. Copeland also shot well from the charity stripe, making 10-of-11 from the free throw line.
Two players were in double figures for Paris -- Brandon Scott scored 20 and Joe Haynes scored 16.
With the win, KC has won six of its last seven conference games and improve to 18-8 overall, 10-6 in Region XIV play.
They will play Panola College Wednesday, Feb. 18, at home. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
KC women vs. Paris
The Lady Rangers got a much-needed victory against conference opponent Paris, 53-49, snapping KC's five-game losing streak. KC's last win was also against Paris, 49-37, on Jan. 21.
Darreion Clark led all KC scorers with 18 points. Deshawnta Lyday was also in double figures for the Rangers with 10 points (5-of-6 from the field).
With the win, the Lady Rangers improve to 7-16 overall and 4-12 in Region XIV play.
Their next game is 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at home versus Panola College.
