KILGORE, TX -- Both the Kilgore College men's and women's basketball teams defeated the Paris Junior College teams by double digits Feb. 13 in Masters Gymnasium.
KC WOMEN 74, PARIS 60
The last time the Lady Rangers played Paris Junior College, KC went down in defeat by 20 points in Paris, 78-58. Fast-forward three weeks later and the Lady Rangers looked like a completely different team, dominating down the stretch to defeat the Lady Dragons 74-60, in Masters Gymnasium Feb. 13.
The Lady Rangers went into the halftime locker room down two points, but stormed back, outscoring Paris 44-28 in the third and fourth quarters.
Freshman Lauren Carroll led all Lady Ranger scorers with 22 points. She also had 7 rebounds, 6 assists and two steals.
KC's Lyrik Williams earned a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Adrianna Edwards was also in double figures for KC with 11 points and five rebounds.
Paris was led in scoring by Teyana Young with 14 points.
With the win, KC improves to 15-11overall and 8-8 in Region XIV play.
The Rangers' next game is 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, in Carthage versus Panola College.
KC MEN 85, PARIS 65
Kilgore quickly made up a six-point halftime deficit to defeat the Paris Junior College Dragons, 85-65, with the help of a huge game by Jaleel Wheeler who scored 31 points.
Wheeler was an impressive 5-of-8 from behind the three point line, and oddly enough, didn't attempt a single free throw.
KC was 14-of-29 from behind the three point line with Alassane Kah hitting 3-of-3, Cheikh Diallo knocking down 3-of-8 and Greg Session going 3-of-6.
Session and Kah ended up with 15 points each and Cheikh Diallo scored 11 points.
Omar Sherman led Paris in scoring with 17 points.
With the win, KC improves to 17-9 overall and 7-9 in Region XIV play.
The Rangers' next game is 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, in Carthage versus Panola College.
