KILGORE, TX -- The Kilgore College men went cold in the second half and couldn't hold on to a two-point halftime lead, losing to the Panola College Ponies, 70-57.
The Rangers looked pretty solid in the first half, going into halftime up 33-31. KC hit 35 percent of its shots from the field in the first half, but the second half was a completely different story. Panola held KC to only 24 points in the second half compared to Panola's 39.
The Rangers made 35 percent of its shots in the second half (7-of-20), compared to Panola that connected on 59 percent of its shots 13-of-22.
KC's Jaleel Wheeler led all scorers with 17 points. He also had 3 assists and 3 steals. Ndene Gueye and Alassane Kah were also in double figures for the Rangers, scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Panola had four players in double figures with Charles Tucker and Jonathan Wiley both scoring 14 points, Chan Williams-Bey, Jr. with 12 and Devyn Wilson with 10.
KC drops to 14-7 overall and 4-7 in Region XIV play. The Rangers' next game is 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, in Tyler versus Tyler Junior College.
