KC men lose to Lee College, 78-69

KILGORE, TX -- The Lee College Rebels erased a four-point Kilgore College halftime lead Dec. 6 to defeat the Rangers, 78-69, in the two teams' final game before the Christmas holidays.

It was KC’s second-straight conference loss after losing Dec. 2 to Jacksonville College.

KC just couldn't get any offensive momentum in the second half with 13 turnovers (20 turnovers total) as Lee held the Rangers to 26 points in the second half.

Paced by J'Von McCormick with 20 points, Lee was 12-of-18 in the second half (66.7 percent).

McCormick was one-of-four players for Lee in double figures.

Shawn Montague scored 14 points and Ezeoha Santiago came off the bench for Lee and sunk all of his four three-point attempts, also scoring 14 points.  Daniel Garmendia was also in double figures for Lee with 13 points.

KC was led in scoring by Daytone Jennings with 18 points.  Davon Newton and Chad Bowie each scored 11 points and Tavion Atkinson came off the bench to score 10 points for KC.

The Rangers and the Rebels now both sit at 1-2 in Region XIV play.

KC's next game is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at home in a non-conference matchup versus Houston Community College.

They will resume conference play Jan. 5 on the road versus Blinn College.
