KILGORE, TX -- Bakari Copeland earned a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds and Jonathan Milligan added 20 points to help the KC men defeat the Tyler Junior College Apaches, 68-63, for a huge conference victory Jan. 31.
KC led from the beginning and never gave up the lead, although TJC tied the game up 50-50 at the five-minute mark.
Milligan and Copeland were huge down the stretch, hitting key free throws (12-of-15 for the game for Milligan and 11-of-14 for Copeland) to maintain the lead.
Alassane Kah was also in double figures for the Rangers with 10 points and Mike Thomas scored 9 points for KC and grabbed 8 rebounds.
Tyler's Dale Jones had a big game with 20 points and TJC's Ikenna Ozwarabizie added 10 points and seven rebounds. TJC struggled, however, from the free throw line, only making 16-of-29 free throws (55 percent), missing several key free throws toward the end of the game.
With the win, the KC men improve to 15-7 overall and 7-5 in Region XIV play. They will travel Wednesday, Feb. 3, to play Navarro College at 7 p.m.
