KILGORE, TX –Kilgore College extended its winning streak to eight games with a victory Jan. 8 over conference opponent Lee College, 92-78, in a dominant offensive performance at Masters Gymnasium.
KC’s last loss was Nov. 23 in a three-point decision to Angelina College.
The Rangers set the tone of the game against Lee College by scoring the first seven points.
Although the two teams exchanged the lead twice in the first half, the Rangers extended the lead in the second half, leaving no doubt as to the outcome of the game.
The Rangers were led in scoring by Tyron McMillian with seven points. McMillian also grabbed eight rebounds.
Rodrigue Andela scored 13 points with eight rebounds and Justin Davis came off the bench to score 15 points.
Cameron Gooden and Michael Thomas each scored 12 points for KC.
Jackson Makoi led Lee College with 31 points. Marvens Petion was also in double figures for the Rebels with 16 points.
KC improves to 14-2 overall and 5-1 in Region 14 play. Lee College drops to 10-7 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
The Rangers will travel Saturday, Jan. 11, to Brenham to face Blinn College. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
Lady Rangers survive to defeat Paris Junior College in 2OT
PARIS, TX -- It took two extra periods, but the Lady Rangers put enough offense together in the second overtime to outlast the Paris Junior College Lady Dragons, 94-87.
Tied at 83 points after the first overtime, KC went on an 11-3 run to close out the game.
With the win, the Lady Rangers improve to 13-3 overall and 2-2 in Region 14 play.
Paris drops to 5-9 overall and 2-2 in conference action.
The Lady Rangers will face Trinity Valley Community College 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, in Masters Gymnasium.
