KC men defeat Coastal Bend College, Lady Rangers lose narrowly to Blinn

The Rangers got a clutch road victory, 97-72, over Coastal Bend College and the Lady Rangers fought hard but lost to Blinn College, 71-63, in Masters Gymnasium. 

RANGERS 97, COASTAL BEND 72

Kilgore College's KJ Jenkins paced the Rangers with 25 points in a 97-72 victory over the Coastal Bend College Cougars in Beeville.

Jenkins nailed five three-pointers and was joined by three other Rangers in double figures.

Da'Sean Nelson scored 17 points, Javonne Lowrey scored 12 and Stephan Morris chipped in 10 points.

Other scorers for the Rangers were Paul Otieno with 8, Godwin Illumoka with 7, Dantwan Grimes with 7 , Tysen Banks with 5 and Justin Crawford with 2 points.

Lonzo Rand scored 25 points for Coastal Bend to lead the Cougars in scoring.

KC (10-5 Region XIV) travels to Jacksonville Wednesday, March 24, to face the Jaguars at 7 p.m. in Jacksonville.

BLINN COLLEGE 71, LADY RANGERS 63

The Lady Rangers put up a valiant efford March 20, but fell just short, losing a tough one to Blinn College, 71-63, in Masters Gymnasium.

KC only trailed Blinn 47-45 after three periods, but Blinn's lead expanded and the Lady Rangers ran out of time to catch up.

Kerrighan Dunn led the Lady Rangers in scoring with 23 points, nailing six three-pointers.

Three other Lady Rangers were in double figures with Josephine Adegbite and Jada Hood each scoring 13 points, and Vianey Galvan scoring 12.

Hood earned a double-double by grabbing 11 rebounds.

Adegbite had nine rebounds and Dunn had eight boards.

KC (7-10, 6-7 Region XIV) will play 903 Elite (non-conference) at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 22, then will travel Wednesday, March 24, to play Tyler Junior College at 5:30 p.m.
