KC improves to 3-0 in conference with win over Jacksonville

KILGORE, TX -- The Rangers can take the next few weeks off for Christmas break sitting at 3-0 in Region XIV conference play thanks to a 68-63 victory Dec. 5 over Jacksonville College.

KC had an 11-point lead at halftime but Jacksonville cut the lead to four points with four minutes remaining when Kalyn Pennie sprinted down the floor for a reverse layup to make the score 58-54.  That was as close as the Jaguars would get, though.

With a minute remaining and KC up by seven points, the Jaguars were forced to play the foul game and the Rangers won, making all but one free throw in the final minute of play.

KC was led in scoring by Demiere Brown with 14 points.  Kevin Buckley and Rodrigue Tha Andela each scored 12 for the Rangers and Darrian Grays came off of the bench to score 10 points.  Andela had nine rebounds, four blocked shots and two assists.

With the win, KC improves to 10-2 overall.  Jacksonville drops to 8-5 overall and 1-2 in Region XIV play.

The Rangers' next game is set for 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at home versus Houston Community College in a non-conference matchup.
