KC ends regular season with victory over Jacksonville

KILGORE, TX -- First-year head coach Addie Lees' Lady Rangers defeated Jacksonville College March 2, marking their 21st win of the year to close out the regular season.

KC (21-8, 13-5) will begin tournament play 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, as the No. 4 seed versus Panola College (the No. 5 seed) at Centenary College in Shreveport, La. (View Region 14 Tournament website)

In the victory over Jacksonville, three Lady Rangers were in double figures.

Sarah Mgbeike led all scorers with 22 points, 19 rebounds and four blocks.

Ireneshia Johnson scored 16 points for the Rangers and had a steal, two blocks and an assist.  

Johnson was 7-of-9 overall and 2-of-2 from the three-point line.

Patience Idoko scored 11 points for KC and Alex Strawhorn scored 8 points.

Shawnna Riggs, Carah Burdette each scored 6 points and De'Jah Williford Kelley scored 5 points for KC.

Jacksonville (2-16, 1-9) struggled from the field, only making 26 percent of its shots.

The Lady Rangers shot 45.5 percent from the field.
