KC Board of Trustees approve plans for new softball complex

Construction will begin soon on the new Kilgore College Commons Complex which will feature a new home for the Ranger softball team.

Location of the new complex is the current site of the former Kilgore Heights building on Houston Street that the college became owner of in October of 2015 through an agreement with Kilgore Independent School District.

Currently, the Rangers are playing on Stream Flo Field, which is owned by the City of Kilgore.  The new field will be one KC can call its own.

Money for the new field, in excess of $100,000, was raised from private donors by the KC Athletics Department.

Plans include razing most of Kilgore Heights Elementary and renovating the old Head Start building on the property for softball and kinesiology use, classrooms and a new softball fieldhouse.

Space left from the razed building will provide an area for band practices and for intramural activities.

The new softball complex is expected to be ready by the spring 2017 softball season.
