Twenty-three Kilgore College students from the college’s service area were awarded a total of $57,500 in scholarships this year thanks to the Griffin Ranch Scholarship.
Established in 2008 by Carlos “Scooter” Griffin and his wife, Debbie McGill Griffin, the scholarship is the first to implement the college’s “Two-Year Promise.”
The “Two-Year Promise” ensures recipients of this scholarship who complete their first year and follow the criteria will be first in line to receive the scholarship proceeds their sophomore year.
The goal of the selection committee for the scholarship is not only to ensure students take advantage of the great two-year programs at KC, but also to have graduates of the college stay in the area to work in the East Texas workforce.
