Former Ranger Colin Jeter gets free agent deal with Indianapolis Colts

Louisiana State University tight end and former standout Kilgore College football player Colin Jeter signed a free agent contract April 29 with the National Football League’s Indianapolis Colts.

Jeter, who is 6-feet-7 and 265 pounds, played tight end at Longview High School before signing a scholarship to play for the Rangers.

At Longview, he was used primarily as a blocking tight end, recording eight catches for 112 yards and a touchdown his senior season.

After LHS, he played at KC one season (2013) for the Rangers, catching 14 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown.

Jeter then signed with LSU where he started 17-of-35 games in his two years where he caught 23 passes for 289 yards and two scores, including one in his final game as a Tiger in LSU's 29-9 Citrus Bowl win against Louisville.

Jeter caught 12 catches for 153 yards and a touchdown as a junior at LSU, the most productive season for a Tiger tight end since 2011. He finished with 11 catches for 158 yards and a score as a senior.

He graduated from LSU in December of 2016 with a degree in Business Administration and was a three-time member of the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll.
