East Mississippi defeats KC to win fourth Mississippi Bowl

PERKINSTON, MISS. – No. 3 East Mississippi defeated No. 13 Kilgore College 27-17 in the 2016 Mississippi Bowl at A.L. May Memorial Stadium in Perkinston, Miss., Dec. 3.

The Rangers went into halftime tied up with the Lions, 14-14, but just couldn't produce enough offense in the second half against EMCC, a team that finished the season as the No. 2-ranked NJCAA team in the country.

The Lions are undefeated in four Mississippi Bowl appearances. MACJC teams have won eight-of-nine Mississippi Bowls.

KC's Cameron Martin was named the bowl's MVP for the Rangers.  Martin entered the game in the second quarter after an injury sidelined Chandler Eiland.  Martin was 25-of-31 for 218 yards, 1 touchdown pass and one interception.  Bowl Game Stats Here

KC finishes its season ranked 11th in the nation with a 6-5 overall record.
