Dr. Bill Holda honored at retirement reception

Dr. Bill Holda was honored with a retirement reception Jan. 24 in honor of his 40-plus years of service at Kilgore College – 20 of which he served as president of the college.

Several elected officials from the state and local government spoke, praising Dr. Holda for his service not only to KC, but the community for which he serves.

He will retire at the end of January after serving KC for 40 years – 20 of which he served as president.

Holda has worked at KC since 1975, starting out as an instructor of voice, ear training, opera workshop and music theory.

He was selected as the eighth president of KC on July 2, 1996, by the KC Board of Trustees.

Dr. Brenda Kays will succeed Holda as president.

Kays comes from Stanly Community College (N.C.) where she has served as president since 2011.
