The Rangers (7-4) defeated the Navarro Bulldogs, 42-28, to claim the SWJCFC championship on Nov. 7 in Corsicana.

The Warriors (7-3) qualified for the playoffs but lost in the first round to Northwest Mississippi Community College, 27-20, on Oct. 31.

ECCC, located in Decatur, Miss., plays in the Mississippi Association of Community & Junior Colleges. The MACJC is one of the two conferences that make up Region XXIII of the NJCAA.

Kilgore is 11-8 in its previous 19 bowl appearances, including a 47-36 loss to Northwest Mississippi in the inaugural Brazos Valley Bowl played at Texas A&M University's Kyle Field in College Station.

The Rangers have played in the C.H.A.M.P.S Heart of Texas Bowl twice, defeating Fort Scott (Kan.) 19-7 in 2006 and falling to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College 62-28 in 2007.
