Blinn slips past Lady Rangers in Brenham, 73-69

BRENHAM, TX -- The Blinn College Lady Buccaneers chipped away at an early 20-point Kilgore College lead Jan. 6 to steal a victory against the Lady Rangers, 73-69.

KC scored the first 18 points of the game and was up 23-3 after the first period, but the Lady Bucs rallied, taking their first lead of the game, 58-57, with just under five minutes to play in the game.

KC freshman Lyrik Williams led the way for the Lady Rangers, earning a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds.  Kiera Tate and Lauren Carroll were also both in double figures with 17 and 10 points, respectively.  Carrroll added eight rebounds, also.

With the loss, the Lady Rangers drop to 10-5 overall and 4-2 in Region XIV play.  Blinn improves to 11-5 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

They will travel Saturday, Jan. 9, to face Jacksonville College.  Tipoff in Jacksonville is set for 2 p.m.
