Blinn hands KC first loss of season after massive second-half rally, 52-41

BRENHAM, TX -- The Kilgore College Rangers exploded out of the gates with a 27-0 lead on the Blinn College Buccaneers, but a second quarter Buccaneer rally resulted in KC's first loss of the season, 52-41, at Cub Stadium.

After KC built a 27-7 halftime lead, Blinn outscored KC 31-14 in the third quarter and shut the Rangers out in the fourth, 14-0.

KC quarterback Chandler Eiland was 17-of-37 for 316 yards passing, two touchdowns and one interception.

Receivers Kyle McBride and Jarod Wood each had four catches for 73 and 54 yards, respectively.

University of Houston transfer running back Tyreik Gray rushed for 103 yards on 17 carries.

Troy Burnett led KC defensively with 11 solo tackles, 14 assists, three tackles for loss and one sack.

With the loss, KC drops to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in SWJCFC play.

The Rangers will be back in action at home 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, to face the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Norsemen at R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium in Kilgore.
