Angelina edges Lady Rangers in conference-opener in Lufkin, 67-64

KILGORE, TX -- Kilgore's Darreion Clark led all players in scoring with 20 points, but it wasn't enough as the Angelina College Lady Roadrunners narrowly defeated the Lady Rangers in the conference opener, 67-64.

Both teams shot about 80 percent from the free throw line (Angelina was 18-of-22 and KC was 4-of-5).

Two other players were in double figures for Kilgore with Mariah Hopkins scoring 16 and Imaobong Akpan with 12.

Angelina had two players in double figures, Brianna Brown with 16 and Ariel Taylor, who came off the bench, with 10.

With the loss, the Lady Rangers drop to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in Region XIV play.

The Lady Rangers play another home conference game 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, against Coastal Bend College in Masters Gymnasium in Kilgore.
