What is Computer Competency?

Computer competency is defined as the demonstrated ability to use information technology. It includes the ability to use computer applications in education and in the workplace as well as the ability to use the Internet and other information technology resources safely.

Who should take the test?

Associate of Science, Associate of Arts, and Associate of Arts in Teaching students at Kilgore College must demonstrate computer competency in one of two ways:

Congrats to Dani Moreno, the winner of a Chevy Cruze!

Kilgore College freshman Dani Moreno won the first-ever Cruise for Success grand prize July 31 (2020), winning a new Chevrolet Cruze, courtesy of Patterson Chevrolet in Kilgore. Moreno, a KC softball player from Humble, was one of 10 students who qualified as the top point-earners for a chance to win the car at the prize giveaway. Read more

Many people would like to attend college, but they are frustrated because they simply do not have time. Parents, full-time employees (and those who are both) often feel that two classes totaling six credit hours are all they can manage at one time.  KC has gotten rid of this frustration by developing pathways to student success by SHORTENING most courses from 16 weeks to only EIGHT weeks.
