About the program:
Kilgore College's three choral ensembles offer singers excellent experiences in the choral art.
- The Kilgore College Chorale is the premiere ensemble at KC and is open to music majors as well as non-majors who demonstrate by audition the ability to sing in a college-level choral choir. The Chorale performs several times per semester, including as part of local and regional tours. Students can expect to perform in varying styles ranging from Renaissance motets to contemporary chorale music including gospel and vocal jazz. It is designed to provide the background, training and experience needed for students wishing to continue to sing at the university level. Singers are enabled to grow in the technical skills necessary for quality vocal and choral music performance and are led to encounter the rich aesthetic and emotional experience which the arts can express. Concerts are held in Van Cliburn Auditorium in the Anne Dean Turk Fine Arts Building on the Kilgore campus as well as area churches. Chorale is directed by Dr. Zach Marshall and accompanied by Jonathan Kaan.
- Camerata Singers is a select women’s choral ensemble that sings motets, folk arrangements, jazz songs, pop music and other literature of a challenging nature. It is comprised of music major and non-music major women; through audition these students demonstrate excellence in musicianship. The group performs throughout the community and at KC choral events.
- KC Connection is a highly select, five-to-six member group of music majors that specializes in pop a cappella and vocal jazz. Members of this ensemble will have advanced sight-singing skills and strong musicianship. KC Connection performs three to four times a semester and regularly appears on tour at area high schools.
