What is Process Technology?

Process Technology is an environment of teams of people responsible for planning, analyzing, and controlling the production of products from the acquisition of raw materials through the production and distribution of products to customers in a variety of process industries. These industries include, but are not limited to:
  • Chemical and Plastics
  • Food and Beverage
  • Oil Exploration and Production
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Power Generation
  • Pulp and Paper
  • Refining and Gas Production
  • Water and Wastewater Treatment
  • Industrial Sales for Equipment and Instruments

What type of program does KC offer?

Kilgore College offers a two-year Associate in Applied Science Degree (AAS) in process technology. The program prepares graduates to maintain safe and environmentally sound work practices, and perform duties in a cost-effective manner in support of petroleum industry business goals.  Students learn how to to operate plants and associated piping systems for the petroleum industry. 

The program also readies graduates to demonstrate technical knowledge, skills and abilities in the following areas:

  • Computer applications
  • Instrumentation systems
  • Process systems
  • Quality and safety
  • Petrochemical industry equipment 
  • Process Troubleshooting
  • Process Internships
