The Flare is Kilgore College's award-winning weekly campus newspaper. The student newspaper has won the Sweepstakes award 15 times in the past 17 years in the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association and 13 times in the past 14 years in the Texas Community College Journalism Association.

The paper also won First Place the past two years in the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors non-daily collegiate category and received a Gold Crown Award from Columbia University. In the past 14 years, Flare students have won almost 1,000 individual awards for their writing, designs and photographs. For a listing of all the Flare Awards click here.
