Purpose of Instructional Student Support Program
The purpose of the Instructional Student Support program is to provide Instructional and Student comprehensive support services to workforce students, transfer students and instructors in conjunction with the Carl D. Perkins Act of 2006 and with the policies and procedures of Kilgore College.
Services:
- Assistance with child care, textbook, gas assistance, or supply expenses
- Part-time employment
- Referral to community resources
- Tutoring and study skills assistance-Partnership with Student Success
- Advising and personal counseling
- Aptitude and interest assessments
- Career planning, job readiness and placement services
- QUEST advisement
- ADA Services-Test Proctoring
- Professional Development
- Equipment for workforce programs
- Nontraditional student advisement/mentoring
Services are limited to Special Population students and Career Technical Students.
Definition of Special Populations students:
- Individuals with disabilities
- Individuals from economically disadvantaged families, including foster children
- Individuals preparing for nontraditional training and employment
- Single parents, including single pregnant women
- Displaced homemakers
- Individuals with other barriers to educational achievement, including individuals with limited English proficiency
