Six Rangers sign to play for four-year colleges next season
Kilgore College head softball coach Leslie Messina is pleased announce that six Ranger softball players have signed college letters of intent to play at four-year schools. The six student-athletes signed scholarships at a ceremony April 30. Signing with Louisiana State University at Alexandria are pitcher Jessica Simon (Hallsville), catcher Heather Bunn (Hugo, Okla.) and pitcher Kaitlyn Hipsher (Canton). Other players include middle infielder Tricia Hock (Brazoria) signing with Henderson State; outfielder Laura Martinez (Rosenberg) signing with University of Houston-Victoria; and first baseman Molly Mackey (Overton) signing with University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Simon named Region XIV Pitcher of the Week for Feb. 25

Kilgore College softball pitcher Jessica Simon was selected as the Region XIV Pitcher of the Week for the week of Feb. 25. Simon, sophomore from Longview, pitched 14 innings, undefeated in two games with a 1.5 earned run average.  She struck out 18 batters and only allowed 9 hits.  Opponents’ batting average for the week was .176 against Simon and she only walked two batters. Each week, Region XIV chooses a pitcher and player of the week. 

Two KC softball players named Region XIV Players of the Week

Two Kilgore College softball outfielders have been selected as Region XIV Players of the Week. Laura Martinez, sophomore from Rosenberg, was selected for the week of Feb. 5; and Alex Aguilar, freshman from Richmond, was selected for the week of Feb. 12. Martinez was 17-28 from the plate with 7 RBI, batting .607 from her leadoff hitting position. She was also 2-2 in stolen bases. Aguilar was 8-16 from the plate with 3 runs scored, plus reached on an error and stole three bases.
