Q. What can I do with a degree in Social Work?
(A.) Adoption Worker, Hospital Social Worker, School Social Worker, Drug and Alcohol Worker, Foster Care, Case Manager, Juvenile Probation, Child and Adult Protective Worker, Mental Health Worker, Nursing Home Social Worker and many other professions.

Q. Can I be a social worker with an Associates Degree from Kilgore College?

(A.) NO. A four-year degree is required.

Q. Where is the closest school to get a four year degree?

(A.) The closest accredited four year school is Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches.

Q. Can I get a license with a degree in Social Work?

(A.) YES! There are four levels of licensure in Social Work with the highest level allowing you to be in private practice offering counseling. See the links below.


Sociology majors work in business and public and private agencies in positions such as data analysts, sales directors, labor-management facilitators, city planning directors, management consultants, and in some service oriented professions such as food stamp workers, community workers for the aged and disabled, and mental health workers.
