HOBET Practice Exam
The HOBET (Health Occupations Basic Entrance Test) is designed to measure your ability and compare it to college-level ability. The test is part of the Radiologic Technology Program admissions process. Many students have found it helpful to practice for the HOBET. An excellent free practice site is found at http://www.testprepreview.com. Follow the link on the left of the HOBET. This site is also an excellent resource for many other types of tests,, including the Accuplacer, GED, SAT and ACT, among others.

Radiologic Technology
It is both an art and a science. It is the largest of the allied health professions. Radiologic Technologists, also known as Radiographers and Medical Imaging Technologists, are trained in the specialized technical area of medical radiography. Students are trained in the application of scientific theory and principle, patient care, and medical ethics and law.

The Radiologic Technology Program

At Kilgore College prepares students to enter the workforce through classroom, laboratory and clinical experiences. An energized lab allows Kilgore College Radiologic Technology students to simulate real life experiences on our campus before entering the clinical site. The Radiologic Technology Program is an Associate of Applied Science program offered on the Kilgore campus of Kilgore College. Students are prepared to assume a professional role in the field of Radiologic Technology. The program is accredited through SACS, and as such is recognized as an accredited educational program in Radiologic Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and The Texas Department of Health (TDH). Upon program completion, the graduate will be eligible to take the national certification examination for radiography offered by the ARRT, and will be eligible for a temporary Medical Radiologic Technologist certificate from The Texas Department of Health. A passing score on the ARRT examination will grant the graduate Registry status and eligibility for certification as a Medical Radiologic Technologist by The Texas Department of Health. The Texas Department of Health (TDH) requires registry status to certify a technologist as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) in the state of Texas. Continuing Education is required to maintain both ARRT registration and TDH certification. Most employers in the state of Texas require job applicants to be registered by the ARRT and a certified MRT.

A new class begins each Fall semester. Application deadline to enter the Fall class is March 15. Students should have as many pre-admission courses completed as possible prior to applying to the program. For more information please visit the Department Profile. The Radiologic Technology Information and Application packet can be downloaded from the General Information page. The packet includes information about the program, application instructions and the forms necessary to apply. The selection process is also outlined in the packet.

Advancement opportunities in this field include Computed Tomography Technologist, Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist, Special Imaging Technologist, Cardiac Cath Lab Imaging Technologist, Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Ultrasonographer, Radiation Therapist, Radiology Extender (RPA), Supervisor, Administrator and Educator. Some of these career opportunities require the Radiologic Technologist to seek additional education.
