Police Academy
Continuing Education Program/Certificate.

The East Texas Police Academy is licensed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education and approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

Peace Officer
Certificate. A 640-hour Basic Peace Officer certificate.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national median salary for a Peace Officer is $33,200. Local salaries vary.

Jailer
Certificate. An 96-hour Basic Jailer certificate.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national median salary for a Jailer is $29,500. Local salaries vary.

The East Texas Police Academy is dedicated to serving the training needs of the hundreds of law enforcement agencies and the thousands of law enforcement officers in the greater East Texas area. ETPA has been serving those agencies and officers since the Academy's inception in 1966. ETPA, a division of Kilgore College, provides a wide range of training, from the Basic Peace Officer Course (640 hours) to advanced courses offered in a vast array of subjects.
