Network Security
Kilgore College is offering a new two-year Associate of Applied Science degree and a one-year certificate in Network Security.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Outlook Handbook , 2004-05 Edition, “Explosive growth in (computer) areas is expected to fuel demand for specialists knowledgeable about network, data and communications security. Demand for computer security specialists will grow as businesses and governments continue to invest heavily in ‘cyber-security,’ protecting vital computer networks and electronic infrastructure from attack. (They) may plan, coordinate and implement the organization’s information security (and) be called upon to educate users on computer security, install security software, monitor the network for security breaches, respond to cyber attacks and in some cases, gather data and evidence to be used in prosecuting cyber crime.”
