Management Information Systems
Interested in learning the software necessary to run a business?  Want to be the software guru for your organization?  Need to brush up your business software skills?  The 30-Hour Management Information Systems certificate offered by Kilgore College is just what you need!  The courses in this certificate include an introduction to computers, a look at computer hardware and operating systems, an introduction to accounting and computerized accounting, an introduction to the Internet, and a thorough look at spreadsheet, database, and presentation graphics software using the most popular business applications.
   

What do graduates do?

Students work as computer support in different sized companies. They troubleshoot computer problems, select, install and train others to use new software, update existing software, and keep web pages up to date. They usually are not the network person, but can help support the network.

What is the job outlook?

The job outlook is varied. If they wish to stay in this area, the student might need to start as a clerk or secretary- being the computer "expert" on the side. We do have graduates working for schools, city and county governments, small and large businesses in the area. The student who has worked during their studies find the most opportunity.

hat kind of salary can graduates expect locally and nationally?

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national median salary for Information Systems Manager is $38,800. Local salaries will vary.

How long does it take?

The program can be completed in 2 years if there are no remedial requirements and the student takes 15-18 hours per semester. The program is 63 credit hours long. About one-third of the program is available on the internet!
