Oil Discovery Jubilee

25 years and 1,000,000 visitors later…

On October 3, 1980 the East Texas Oil Museum opened its doors. It was 50 years to the date of the first discovery well—the Daisy Bradford #3.

We invite to you to visit the museum during 2005 as we celebrate our silver anniversary. As part of the “Diamonds and Silver” celebration, we have planned a number of activities, including a book signing, an art show, dedication of a flag pole and flags, a Bar-B-Lunch, and a special commemorative stamp cancellation.

We are open daily, with a very reasonable admission charge, and on October 3, 2005 we will offer an Open House, with free admission and special activities throughout the day.

During 2005 we are also raising money to support the East Texas Oil Museum Endowment, which is a project to raise $1,000,000 in support of the museum and its activities. Money raised from this project will help with needed repairs, planned expansion and to secure the museum’s future for many years to come. Gifts can be in any amount. Individuals, companies and organizations who make gifts of $1,000 or more will be named as "Charter Patrons" of the East Texas Oil Museum Endowment.
