Oil Discovery Jubilee



Activities at the new Gaston Museum
On October 3, 1930 the Daisy Bradford #3 became the discovery well for the East Texas Oil Field. This well is located in Joinerville at the southern tip of the 42 mile long field. It is therefore only proper that the kick-off events of the Jubilee Celebration take place in Joinerville in Rusk County .

Event Schedule:

       2:00 – 5:00 PM -- Free Museum tours
       2:00 – 8:30 PM – Vendor foods
       2:00 – 9:00 PM – Oil Field Workers Reunion
       2:00 – 9:00 PM – Fellowship & Nostalgia
       2:00 – Until ? -- Live Entertainment
       5:30 PM -- Dignitary Recognition
       7:30 PM -- Re-enactment of the Daisy Bradford # 3 Discovery. See        details below.
       8:00 PM -- Giant Fireworks Display

Re-enactment of the Discovery well:
• Plan is to erect an 85 foot derrick near the Museum.
• Then pump up to 500 barrels of water through the derrick.
• A Giant Display of Fireworks will then follow.
