International Students Admissions
An immigrant and refugee student must submit a copy of the Immigrant Card. A non-immigrant alien student seeking F1 Visa category for study in the U.S. must submit the following:
A completed Application for Admission to the International Students Office 30 days prior to the beginning date of registration
A medical record giving evidence of immunization against tetanus, diphtheria, poliomyelitis, mumps, measles, and rubella
A financial statement proving that the applicant has sufficient resources for support during the entire period of study in the United States
A minimum score of 500 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). An application for the test and a list of test centers for the TOEFL are available from Test of English as a Foreign Language, Educational Testing Service, Box 899, Princeton, NJ 08450, USA.
An official transcript(s) showing the academic background. Entering freshman must provide an English translation showing completion of secondary school. A transfer from a foreign college must provide a transcript and/or syllabus reflecting course work and/or program completed at a college or university outside the U.S. Grades received must reflect satisfactory performance. A transfer from a U.S. college or university must provide an official transcript from each college or university attended.
Note: The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service Form I-20 will not be issued until admission procedures are completed to the satisfaction of the International Student Adviser.
International students are subject to the requirements of the THEA. THEA requirements are explained in the section "Required Testing for Course Placement."
After acceptance to the college and before registration, the college requires the international student to take the Michigan Test of English Language Proficiency (MTELP). A student is placed in appropriate ESOL, English, and/or reading courses based on the results of this test.
During the entire period of study at KC, each international student is required to purchase health and accident medical insurance.
